Stussy, Inc. bears the name of designer Shawn Stussy,  In 1979, when he was 24 years old, Stussy gave up his free living ways and settled in Laguna Beach to establish a regular surfboard business. To brand his handiwork, he took a large marker and scrawled his signature on the finished boards. The Stussy signature actually became more than popular and it soon became his trademark and logo. He then made some screen prints to promote the boards and from there he has been a clothing apparel brand. In 1984, Stussy and his friend, Frank Sinatra Jr. partnered to sell the apparel. The company expanded to Europe by 1988 and later opened a boutique store in Soho, New York. The brand continued to open successful locations throughout the 1990s. By 1992, the brand was sold throughout the United States at specialty boutiques and department stores alongside other "California lifestyle" clothing. Outside of the country, the brand was found in specialty shops alongside clothing from high-end international designers. Stussy Inspirations: Street wear, skate boarding, surfing, California living, and hippie lifestyle.
